"Personal Folders" & "Monday's"

Today was very frustrating...it started with me getting to work, signing into my computer and trying to open my personal folders in Outlook.   Well, guess what they were deleted but not by me.  This presents a problem because I have or rather had a lot of important work related information saved.  Anyway, I spent the better part of two hours with our IT people to try to find my folders, with no luck at all and then the rest of the day asking others in my office to forward certain pieces of information to at least keep me working.  The rest of the day was just long and boring.  I was very happy to get off work and head home.  Tonight, though, I was trying to look at my e-mails and everyone was opening up so slowly that I finally gave up.

Well, on to another subject.  I really was glad to have a few Monday's to spend with Melissa, I think we are really getting to know one another.  It is always nice to have good friends to hang out with.  Sadly Melissa is heading back to school, she is a teacher, next week so I'll be going it alone on Monday.  However, I have lots of stuff to do this coming Monday so I should survive ok.

Photo gallery

I'm in the process of moving all the photos on my websites to the new Gallery software. It's much easier to manage the photos on the web using Gallery and it has a few neat features like "slideshow." I'm also using new photo organizing software, ACDSee 6.0, which does a good job of compressing the photos to a managable size, so I'm also making the photos larger (800 x 600 instead of 500 x 375). All in all, I think it's a better overall presentation of the pictures.

I've completed the transistion of all the Disney Cruise photos. You can go to the DCL section on DizWiz.com and click on each day, or you can go directly to the Gallery. I've also uploaded all my Daytona race photos to WelchHome.com. Take a look!

I'm also setting up Tiffany, Scott and my Mom's website, WelchFamilyNOLA.com, and I'm using Gallery for their photos too. I'll finish setting up the site in August when Tammy and I go to visit on vacation. I'm sure Tiffany will let everyone know when she posts pictures ;-)

There's more pictures to come, so check back often.

Books

I just finished reading "Building a Company: Roy O. Disney and the Creation of an Entertainment Empire." Great book. If you're a Disney fan, you probably know the story of
Walt--but Roy's story is just as important. He dedicated his life to making Walt's dreams come true. I have a new found respect for him after reading this book.

Speaking of books, Chris has lent me a science fiction novel to read: "Snow Crash".  I'm looking forward to start reading it, but it's going to be different for me. The last few books I've read have been non-fiction. I've recently read "The Second Coming of Steve Jobs," "Walt Disney: an American Original," "D-Day," and "Leadership" by Giuliani. I'm sure I'll adjust quickly and enjoy it. I love reading, but it gets harder and harder to find time to read, and I'm not the quickest reader in the world either. So I hope Chris doesn't need the book back anytime in the near future :-)

Monday's

Well, starting a few weeks back my schedule at work changed and now I have Sunday and Monday as my days off. I hate having a week day off rather than both weekend days because it only gives Glenn and I one day together. However, since I do have this schedule(hopefully it is only temporary), I figure I should make the best of it. So, today I spent time with my friend Melissa. Melissa is a teacher is off right now while school is out and we decided to hang out on Monday's till school resumes. Today we had lunch at her place and then headed out to the Floridia Mall to do a little shopping. I had a great time getting out and doing girl stuff with a friend. I'm looking forward to next week. I think we are going to go the movies or rent movies and hang out at her place. Either way it sounds fun to me. It's a lot more fun to have someone to hang out with when you have the day off. Anyway, back to work tomorrow, oh what fun that will be...just kidding!!

Independence Day

Tammy and I had a wonderful 4th of July. We went to Chris and Melissa's house, and they barbecued hamburgers, chicken and corn on the cob. We ate and visited for a while on the patio, and then we popped in a movie--"Love Actually"--and watched it. (Surprisingly, I liked it!) Then we played Americana Monopoly (appropriately). It was fun, but I think we need to play a different game next time. Just to be different :-)

We want to thank Melissa and Chris for having us over, planning of a great day and cooking some delicious food. If we're lucky, maybe we'll be invited over again.

Here he comes...here comes Speed Racer, he's a demon on wheels...

Jeff Gordon won the Pepsi 400!!! It's a shame I wasn't there (first time in 6 years), but he probably won because I wasn't there (I'm a bit superstitous), so it's for the greater good.

This story will be in the 7/4 Orlando Sentinel, and it sums up how I feel perfectly. Jeff Gordon doesn't get the respect he deserves.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I am thrilled that Gordon won the race tonight--or should I say this morning?
