Makes approximately 8 (bowl) servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 lbs ground meat
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup jalapeño pepper, chopped
  • 3 cups tomato sauce
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Tony Chachere's
  • 1.5 oz Maxine's chili powder
  • 1 tsp sugar

Directions:

  • Heat the oil in a large dutch oven over medium heat
  • Place ground meat in pot and season with 1 tbsp salt and 1 tbsp pepper. Brown and drain
  • Add onion, green bell pepper and jalapeño pepper and sauté for 4 minutes
  • Add tomato sauce and stir
  • Add remaining salt and pepper, garlic powder, Tony Chachere's, chili powder and sugar and stir
  • Add water and stir until all is incorporated and bring to a boil
  • Let simmer for at least one hour over low heat.
